Need 2 screensavers

M

ms

I'd like to find 2 (W98) screensavers:
1. Autumn leaves falling

2. Snowflakes falling

I need: No ad banners, etc.
No install, just a zip file resulting in a simple *.scr screensaver file

Google so far has lots of these screensavers in setup versions/adware.

Any help on this?

Go to google and click on the Images tab. Search for and download whatever
images you like, saving them to a new folder. Then right-click on your
desktop and click the properties menu and then click the screen saver tab.
Choose the "My Pictures" screen saver, and click settings. Then enter the
directory and folder into which you put the downloaded images. Click Ok,
Apply, and Ok. Done.

Where do you find the "My Pictures" Screen Saver? It is not part of Windows
98..

Oops, it's on WindowsME so I just assumed it was on 98, too. Okay, second
try: save to Windows\System, then go to the screensaver and see if it's
there. Just be sure to save it as a .scr file.

Not sure about this, but I think that's what worked for me before.

Here's info about a snowflake screensaver that is close to what you are
looking for. I've had it on my to-do list since last year - finally
downloaded it a week or so ago and think it's pretty nice. I have an
InCtrl file for the installation if you would like that info. (WIN 98
here too)

Thanks, that's good for fixed images.

But my question was about moving images- *falling leaves, etc. A
screensaver.

Thanks, Susan, but it's an install and these days, I try to avoid
installs where I can.

You can do falling snow / leaves with javascript and html -- all sorts of
free ones around. I have a "falling leaves autumn scene" as my desktop using
Active Desktop.

with a little ingenuity you could probably figure a way out to use your html
page as a screensaver. There are some programs out there that will let you
use any program as a screensaver. Perhaps you can create a batch file to
call up the page (using IE's kiosk mode switch so you aren't bothered with
menus, scrollbars, etc) then use these other programs to call up your batch
file.

Sorry, I read it as a fixed image of falling leaves. Well, I guess I'm no
use to you at all, am I? BLNT. :)

It does not look like anyone else found one either.

Susan covered the Snowflake and I've seen a falling leaves SS
somewhere. Here's the only two SS sites from my favorites, which
'may' still be in operation.

http://www.screensaver.as/screensaver6.shtml
http://www.taynet.com/saver/

There is a webring of screensavers. Did you see it in your Google
surf? Try a Google on 'Falling Leaves screensaver' There are tons
of freeware SS without ads but you have to dig through everything
in Google.

For the duration of Swen, my address is inoperative.

I am not into seasonal screensavers, but I found on my hd these 2
screensavers, that I once downloaded:
Christmas Carol and Autumn Blue Jay.
Nothing fancy and not to my taste, but anyway.
At least they meet your requirements.

FWIW : I uploaded the two single .scr savers to a.c.f.binaries

FYI: they are both from Tootsie's Theme Shop.
http://www.tootsiesthemeshop.com/
They still have a number of Autumn and Christmas screensavers:
http://www.tootsiesthemeshop.com/autumnscreen.htm
http://www.tootsiesthemeshop.com/xmasscreen.htm
However, they have changed their policy.
They now use Wise installer and, much worse : they contain New Dot Net
spyware.
(But at least you are informed at the start of the install, so that you
can quit).

Thanks, BoB.
Yesterday, I basically did the same search, with a "+" between falling
leaves and screensaver, today I used your search term above. There are
tons of free screensavers, I went again through about 70 sites, every
one that looks small enough to be interesting turns out to be an
install. There were about 60 more sites to look through, but any program
I can't find after searching 70 sites on each of 2 days- I don't need it
that bad.

Thanks, Sietse. The ones you uploaded *do* have falling leaves and

across something else.
