NDIS Test: Remote Support Adapter Error on 1 Card 1 Machine test.

Hi,

When I run 1 Card, 1 machine NDIS test on WInXP as well as on Win2K,
WHQLCheckConfig gives the error saying "Remote Support Card is not
connected".
I can understand for 2 cards and 2 machines test this is a valid check but
for one card test, why does it check for remote support card.

I could not find any Errata also in ALL Test category related to this
error.

I see the similar issue when I run NDIS test with 2 cards on one machine.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

warm regards,
Nazim

WHQLConfigCheck is used to verify that the test configuration is valid for a
WHQL logo submission. Running 1 card/1 Machine or 2 Cards/1 Machine are not
valid configurations for logo submissions and hence the error.

If you are not submitting the log to WHQL, you can ignore the failure. For
WHQL submission you must use the configuration as specified in the HCT
documentation (in which case the error would not appear).

Hi Mitesh,

Sorry, ignore the prev mail (RE: with no message). sent by mistake.

I read the HCT 11.2 document again, the setup is clear to me now and I
don't get the error . Does this mean that we need to connect three test
devices as given in the figure there and send the logs for submission only
for this setup. (3 cards and 2 machines, i would say).

That means we have to submit three test devices (hardware cards) at the
time of submission.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Just for the sack of understanding,
I am wondering why second card on the test machine, Test (support) Device
(2), is needed and how it will get used in the testing?

We require 2 devices on the test machine (test card + local support card) to
test that a single driver can control two instances of the adapter (handle
one DriverEntry & multiple MiniportInitialize calls).

Yes you would have to submit 3 test devices at the time of submission.
However, if you use the self-test procedure, you may not have to submit any
hardware.

Hi Mitesh,

Thanks a lot for this great info and clearing my confusion.

Regarding the self-test procedure where I may avoid submitting hardware,
I didn't get any info on this while going through the HCT11.2 documentation
that's why I was following the normal procedure. Can you please give more
info on the self-test procedure?

Mine is a USB Network Card (trying to get Whql under DSL Device category on
XP and 2K
, though I know 2k logo program will expire on 1 April),
Can I use the self test procedure for my device.

Thanks a lot in advance

regards,
Nazim
