NBA Live 2000 error message, won't run on XP (nbawin.icd)

When i try to run EA Sport's NBA Live 2000 on my laptop,
running Windows XP, even in Windows 98 compatibility
mode, i get the error: "nbawin.icd has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." It runs on my old computer with win98 but
not on laptop. Already error reported to microsoft, no
article in KB. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in
advance.
