Navigate up one level with Backspace

I use Backspace to navigate levels upward in WinXP. Now in Vista,
Backspace navigates back thru history of your travel. What key
shortcut I can use to go up levels?

I don't like the left pane with folder structure view in Vista. It's
useful in some situations but not all. Is there a way to turn it off.
It takes up space too. It would be nice to swtich between the Explorer
and the traditional desktop interface. Is there a way to do that?

Is there a site listing all the navigation shortcuts for Vista?

Thanks for the help,

liu

That's great. By turning it off, Control click to open a new window
also works now. THANKS!
