Navapsvc process CPU usage

Hi all,

On my Win XP SP1 system with Norton AntiVirus 2002, the process
navapsvc.exe takes quite a lot of CPU usage (sometimes about 20% - 30%).
I've never mentioned it before.

Searcing with Google, I found a lot results by searching "navapsvs.exe
cpu", but I didn't find any useful answers. Also on Symantec support there
were no useful answers for my problem.

Can anyone tell me about this issue, and how can I reduce the CPU-usage for
this process (without losing virus-protection)?

Thanks in advance,

William

According to this page (second entry)
http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist_n.htm the
recommendation is "leave untouched."

Under NAV Options, click on "Auto Protect" and then on "Bloodhound." I
believe (and stand to be corrected) that if you disable this heuristics
feature, or at least set it its lowest level, that Auto Protect will
consume less CPU resources.

Regards,
Ian.
