NAV03 problems

Christo

i have NAV 2003

running alongside AVG free 7

norton av loads n the system tray at startup, but it is disabled

i have to manually enable it.

attempting to open norton anti virus 2003 y double clicking the sys tray
icon avails to nothong so does navigating to the location of the icon in the
start menu, nothing opens on my screen, this after manually enaling the
service by right clicking the sys tray icon and clicking enable auto protect

can anyone give me any pointers as to what the problem may be?

i have AVG free but would prefer norton to be active too

so any hints people, why is it disabled at startup and why do i need to
manually enable it, why des attempting to open it result in nothingness?

please please help

i would much appreciate

Thankyou

Chris

Choose one on-access AV scanner to use. You can have both products
installed and use their on-demand scanners to check for viruses (you
might want to schedule an AV run to occur at periodic intervals). But
only have one on-access scanner in operation. They can easily conflict
with each other. What happens when you have more than one person trying
to open a door? Same with AV file system drivers trying to interrogate
the data stream.

Thanks man, i thought maybe it might have been that, but they had functioned
alongside one and other fine before, maybe it was an update on norton or AVG
that caused the problem to arise, its solved now.

cancelled AVG's shield and only norton auto detect is running now

i dont suppose that if i was to enable AVG after boot up that the problem
would re appear?

will it effect how each program detects viruses or not?

Experimentation in load order might find a workable setup where both
on-access scanners will cooperate; however, any problems that occur by
using both may not be immediately exhibited or evident until sometime
later you find the conflict. Pick whichever on-access scanner you feel
gives you the best coverage. Schedule the on-demand scanner from each
to run nightly full scans (or at whatever interval you want).
