"Native" mode question

R

RJThompson

Our domain is running Mixed-Mode 2K Active Directory with 4 2K DCs and one
NT 4.0 BDC server. I want to go to Native mode but cannot, for political
reasons, remove the 4.0 BDC. Two questions: can I go to Native mode with
that 4.0 BDC still present? And if I do, what will happen to that BDC?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You cannot go to Native Mode on the domain until ALL NT4 BDC's are gone.
They will not work after this change. That is what Native Mode means...."NO
NT4 BDC's".....do not do this until that BDC is gone.

Windows2000 or Windows Server 2003 Domain Controllers can't replicate data
to any NT4.0 BDC when the domain functional level is raised to Native Mode.

Ensure all domain controllers running at least Windows2000 in the particular
domain before you rise the domain level to Native Mode.
