Nasty background under MathType equations ?

Would you please help me?!

Whenever I insert a MathType equation in Word 2003 I have a grey background under the formula.
Do somebody knows what i s the reason for this and how can I correct it.
The background is not printed, however having several formulas on a page makes the text unreadable.
