Narration stops recording during presentation

When using the narration feature, the narration stops recording during a
presentation and returns me back to the normal slide view. When I tried to
return to the slideshow view to resume narrating, I am prompted with record
from current slide or start at beginning. When I selected record from current
slide, it wiped out the previous recording and returned me to the first slide.
The presentation was saved prior to recording and the slide I wanted to
return to was selected when resuming the narration.

Do presentations 'drop out' like this when you are not using the narration
tool? If so, it sounds like something is grabbing focus from PowerPoint -
anti-virus updating or something like that.

The narration tool generally is a bit, er, temperamental - you may want to
record your narration using something like audacity instead:
