naming range moves me to macro

If I try to give a range the same name as one of my macros from the name box
(at the top left of the workbook) I find I'm suddenly looking at that macro
with my cursor flashing in the VB editor.

Is there any way to stop this or at least capture it as it will confuse
users? Strangely I don't get the same problem if naming from Insert, Name,
Define.

Thanks

I don't think you can avoid that. When you type into the names box on the
input bar it does the something like this

If a Defined name or Macro name exists then
Application.Goto ("the-Typed-or-Selected-Name-of-a-Name-or-Procedure")
Else: define a range name or name a selected object

Best avoid duplicate Procedure and & Defined names
