Name and or browse problem

Hi

We seem to be having a problem with the LAN here (two systems running XPSP2
and a Linux box). I can see the othert XP box in workgroup, but get an
Access Denied error if I try to browse it. My machine doesn't show up at all
in the other system's workgroup listing.

I really don't know where to start looking here. I can see and use the Samba
share on the Linux box fine, so it's a problem between the two XP boxes.

Help :)

Rob,

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this
article with an open mind.

And check the NetBT setting - make sure that it's consistently Enabled on all
computers.

And look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net
config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
