Lost Access to browse Workgroup

Marc Seidler

I have a small LAN with all system running Xp Sp2. 2 systems have Windows
One care with the firewall disabled. None of the systems have any firewall
Windows or otherwise. I was able to browse the Workgroup up to last week
with no problems. I always instal all MS Updates. All systems have Windows
Defender among other AntiSPy software installed and all are clean. Now none
of the systems can browse the workgroup. I have tried static and dynamic IP
addresses, reset the router, switch, etc. I can see the previously mapped
drives fine. I have set the RestrickAnnonomous to 0 to no avail. It is odd
that all systems lost access at the same time.

Marc,

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or the restrictanonymous setting, but there are
several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem.

Or look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net
config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
