Mystery Folders

I am not suer this is the right forum for my problem, but
I shall ask for help here and hope that someone will have
the solution to my particular problem.

A recently installed program crashed my system and, upon
rebooting there were some crossed linked files, which
windows placed in folders named "Found.000,Found.001 and
Found.002", these folders are visible when I run the
system information program, however, they are not visible
from explorer, or from my computer.

I have tried to access the folders from the command
prompt, but the system says it cannot find the folders.
I have ran a search for the files that are in the folders
ie: file0000.chk, file0001.chk etc. but the system cannot
find these files.

All these files apparently are cross linked filed that
needs to be deleated from the system, but I am unable to
do that because the system will not find the folders, or
the files.

Would someone out there in Computer land please explain
this to me, and direct me on how to access these folders
and delete the files. My system continues to reboot
itself periodically, and each time it does' the
diagnostic program is ran and another folder ie.
found.00? appears.

I have scanned the system for virus and it is free of any
virus. Please help.

Thank you.

bmbail,

These files are were crosslinked or were found on damaged sectors of your
hard drive and were extracted and placed in the .000 and .chk files by
chkdsk (which did the scanning). These files don't need to be deleted, and
they really aren't taking up much space, but if you'd absolutely like them
removed:

Go into Windows Explorer and in the left-hand pane, expand My Computer and
highlight drive C:. Go to the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Click
the View tab and check the radio button entitled 'Show hidden files and
folders' and uncheck the 'Hide protected operating system files' box (click
yes when the message pops up). Click OK. The Found.000 and file000.chk
files should be listed there and you can delete them.

When you have finished removing them, go back to Folder Options and click
'Do not show hidden files and folders' and re-check the box to 'hide
protected operating system files'. Click ok.

Could be they are set as hidden, from explorer goto tools > folder
options... > view tab, uncheck do not show hidden files and folders, also
uncheck hide protected operating system files - re enable your setting
afterwards.
