Mystery email alert on desktop!

Hi, I am using Windows XP and when i log on to my account there is a message on my desktop saying " 1 unread email "...fine..but where is it..? I have Outlook Express, MS Outlook ( 2003 ) a hotmail account & fs mail...I have searched them all but to no avail..My emails have never been so tidy..deleted all the rubbish but cannot locate this " 1 unread email "...is this some sort of test..??? can someone advise please..Gerry.

You can download TweakUI from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.
