My XP keep shutting down without warning!!

I use Window XP. My window keeps shutting down without warning. The
screen would suddenly went black without prior notice, as if the power
supply to CPU is being cut off. After shutting down it doesn't
restart. This unfortunated event happens randomly. Sometimes the whole
CPU blacked off when I am just barely on the pc, sometimes it shuts
down when I am in Window XP mode. I have also the experience of seeing
the CPU goes off while the window is doing scandisk (a thing Window
does when your computer is not properly shut off)Sometimes the pc
performs OK. May I know what happen?

Check all the connections, and (depending on how long you've had this
machine)....open it up and make sure all the fans are working and free of
any dust balls. Overheating might be causing this to happen, or a bad power
supply.

Yes you may, but only this time.

You might open the tower up and direct a fan towards the inside to see if it
stays up longer.

The fans are working fine, but the problem remains unsolved. I don't
think a bad power supply is the source of the problem, because the
monitor is on when CPU shuts down.
