My XP is slow

When i switch on my Laptop with XP using my user account (admin rites ) it
loads up normally execpt antivirus program and network icons , i am not able
to access my laptop until these icons load its for 2 minutes.
if i log on using other user account its working fine.
i scanned for viruses... its virus free, i deleted my profile and recreated
my user profile, its still the same...
please advise

my laptop is dell latitude D610, it runs mcafee 4.5 antivirus program with
updated definations
 
How much RAM memory?

You need to get a more up-to-date anti-virus program, not that the one
installed is slowing your system down any..

You may be running out of system resources and this will certainingly
slow up your computer. There are a number of things you can do to speed
up Windows:

1. Remove all unnecessary startup programs

2. Delete all temporary files

3. Remove all unnecessary services

4. Defrag and clean up the hard disk

5. Check for and remove all mailcious softeware

6. Monitor and check your system resource useage as you load up each
program
