Hi John

Thnaks for getting back to me. When I send from a Bt connect to windows
mail you get the following:

Subject: FW: Undeliverable: FW: Undeliverable: Delivery Status Notification
(Failure)
Sent: 06/12/2008 12:36

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

(e-mail address removed) on 06/12/2008 12:36
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was
sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find
out the correct address.
<HESA04UKER.HE.LOCAL #5.1.1>

If you send from hotmail or yahoo etc the e mails arrive from Bt connect
they do not.

cheers

There appears to be a problem with the btconnect.com mail server.
I have checked that (e-mail address removed) email address, and it is valid.

You might try forwarding that non-delivery notice to (e-mail address removed),
and ask them to look into the matter.

Hi Randy,

Then it has nothing to do with Windows Mail. Either you have the wrong email
address(s) or there is a problem with the server. If this happens with 'all'
emails (regardless to whom you send them) then there is probably a problem
BT's end, especially if you can send the same emails via, say a webmail
account.

The error message is quite specific 'the following recipients could not be
reached' therefore the server can't find that particular person. The only
option the server has, in this situation, is exactly the same as the Post
Office 'return to sender.'

As the situation is not, I assume, life threatening I would contact BT
support by email to enquire if they are having any problems. Like most ISPs,
and BT is no exception, when you telephone them their support personal have
a 'routine' to go through to ensure that the call takes as long as possible
and they get the maximum profit out of your call.

I haven't been with BT for many years now, I changed to Virgin because it
was a better deal, but have you checked that the POP and SMTP information is
correct for BT as I suggested?

Check that you have followed all the instruction on the BT site:

Incidentally, Randy, the instruction for setting up your email account from
BT refer to Outlook Express, but they are exactly the same for Windows Mail

In defense of tech support, those guys are barely paid above minimum
wage, so it is not surprising the job doesn't attract the cream of the crop.
