My Taskbar Vanished!

Ok, this happened fairly regularly. When I'm running a handful of processes
at the same time, sometimes the computer will slow down for a second, then
the taskbar just disappears off the screen. Nothing in its place, I can see
the desktop background where it was. I can use the ctrl+alt+del function to
get the task manager to pop up, that's the only way I can use any programs.
When I restart the taskbar comes back, but so far I've found nothing to make
it "un-vanish" without rebooting. Anyone have any ideas?
 
Sometimes if one or more of the programs running causes an error the taskbar
will disappear then re-appear after a period of time. Could that be what is
happening try checking the log files.
