My slide won't transition while playing a sound file.

I'm working with powerpoint 2002 and my problem is that the sound file,
a music wav file, plays out before the next slide comes up. I have the
slide set to start 24 seconds into the music, the slide is set to
transition after 4 seconds, and the animation is set to go with the
music. I've changed the setting to start at the beginning instead of
24 seconds into it, but that doesn't make the slide transition
properly. This is a graduation slideshow and I am on a time crunch so
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adding one or two details...
This is someone who contacted me and I sent here. Sound is set to play for
100 slides, but still doesn't transition. I know I have heard of this
problem before, but just can't remember what we did with it. Anyone else
remember?

Try setting it to 999 instead of 100. Not sure that will make a difference,
but it won't hurt to try.

Poster says that setting the sound to start at the beginning hasn't resolved
it. That would have been my suggestion, as ISTR there's a bug in at least
one of the versions of PPT that won't advance slides when the sound is set
to begin at a time other than the beginning.

Other than that, I'd suggest deleting and reinserting the sound files based
on the settings described in the FAQ link (i.e., start at the beginning of
the sound and stop after 999 slides). I think that's what resolved a similar
problem for a gentlemen at one of the PPTLive conferences, but I still don't
know why he should have had to delete and reinsert the sound files to get
them to work. Just one of them mucking up the works somehow is my guess.

In order to try and get the music to play and the slide to transition
to the next slide, I did try several things...I changed the setting
from 100 to 999, and I had also tried moving the audio file into
another slide and having it start there. The music still continued but
the slide show didn't, the song finishes before the slide transitions.
The really odd thing is that I originally had the song inserted into a
slide later in the slideshow and I had no problems playing it. Thanks
for the help tho, I appreciate it.

Is the file small enough that you could email it to me? I have an idea, but
don't know if it will work. I think you have my address, but if not - unknot
the reply address on this post.
