My sent mail disappears into thin air with Outlook.

When I compose an e-mail and push send, it sends it to the Outbox. I then
press send/receive and it shows that it sends the message. when I check in
my Sent Items folder, it shows the message in the folder.
However, the mail doesn't leave my computer and disappears into thin air. I
cannot send any e-mails from my computer, but I can receive.
When I send mail through my isp, it works, and also works through Outlook
Express.
Has anyone had this problem? I have uninstalled and re-installed Outlook,
set up a brand new account, checked the computer for viruses, and nothing
works.
Please help!!

Yes. Test messages also do not come through. However, when I check the
account settings and do a test message, I do get the Microsoft e-mail that
says the settings are correct. But when I do a normal send, it still shows
it going out of the outbox, shows sent in the Sent folder, but the recipient
doesn't get the mail.

When you test the accounts the resulting msg received is from your Outlook,
not MS
Your OL is therefore functioning correctly
If you have done the above I'm unsure what you mean by "Test messages also
do not come through" unless perhaps you mean a msg sent to yourself is not
received.

Yes, that is correct. I compose a message (to myself and/or someone else
with a cc to myself), but it is not received by me. Again, it shows that it
has been sent, but it doesn't arrive in my own e-mail box, or the other
recipient.
Is this not the most bizarre problem you have heard of?
Thanks for your continued response. I hope this doesn't keep you awake all
night!

Send a test msg to yourself, once sent, close OL and open your web mail
interface and see if the resulting msg is visible there.
You may have to wait a while, depending on your ISP

Or in the web mail interface send a msg to yourself & see if that appears in
web interface
