My Send/Receive has stopped working. How do I fix it?

I've been using Outlook on this computer for a couple of years. Recently, my
Send/Receive stopped working and I can no longer use Outlook to send or
receive e-mails.

What version of Outlook? What are the exact symptoms? What type of
account? Any error mesasges?
