One of my CD drives is now D: How do I change my primary slave drive back
to D: from H:?

In the Computer management go to Disk management and
change drive letters for CD drives and put D: to your
slave drive. Reboot and Your primary slave will get D:
letter.

I am not allowed to change the hard disk now called F to D because D is
used by the DVD drive which is D now but was F before. This ocurred after I
installed new firmware in the DVD burner. How can I switch them?

Vacate the occupied drive letter box temporarily changing the desired letter
to something outrageous, say, Z, if that takes your fancy. Now you have
spare room to move about your desired 2 letters to their designated boxes.
