my reminders do not play a sound

I have checked the advanced reminder options tab and it is set to play a
sound, each reminder is set to play a sound, and my computer sound is not
muted. My reminders used to pop up and now, out of nowhere, they have
stopped popping up or playing a sound. Any Ideas?

What version of Outlook are you running and what mode (Corp/Workgroup,
Internet Mail Only, etc.) do you have it installed in? If you're not
sure, check Help | About.

Do other sounds play on your computer? Have you verified that the sound
you chose exists on your computer and can be played? What happens if you
change to a different sound, just as a test?

Are you trying to get reminders from the default folders or from
subfolders? Have you tried starting Outlook with the /Cleanreminders
switch?

My computer does play other sounds..and I have already tried other sounds.
The odd thing is that the reminders have always worked in the past. They
just stopped working. I went to the about section and found I am on Outlook
2003 version 11.0, SP1 part of MS Office student/teacher edition. I do not
know if the reminders are from the default folders or not. I am going to try
to figure out how to check. Is any of this useful to you? How do you clean
reminders and what is the impact of doing so?

The default folders are the base folders like Inbox, Calendar, Contacts,
etc. If you're using custom subfolders (which lots of people do) then
you'll have a bigger problem getting the reminders to work because they
won't natively fire out of the subfolders.

To start Outlook by using the /Cleanreminders switch you can try going to
Start | Run and in the box that appears type:

outlook /cleanreminders

If that doesn't work then you'll have to specify the path to Outlook which
is a little more of a pain.
