Calendar reminders in Outlook

I don't understand why my Calendar reminders are not working in Outlook 2003,
even though I go to tools/options/other/advance options/reminder options.
Both the "Display the reminder" and " Play reminder sound" box are checked.
Also the "reminder wav. " is displayed. Thank you.
