My Pictures Screensaver wont recognise pics in My Pictures folder

David Horner

I run Windows XP SP2 and the My Pictures Screensaver used to work perfectly,
showing pictures from any folder I selected. But recently it wont recognise
the pictures in the C:/Documents and settings/My Documents/My Pictures
folder, and also in the saved backup of this folder ( which is on another
Hard Drive)
It still shows the pictures from any other folder I select but not from
these two.
What on Earth is wrong?
Unfortunately I only noticed this recently and I don't know if I installed
any other programs just before this happened.

I hope someone out there can help me.
Thanks

I cannot recall seeing this issue discussed.
Posting some details may help in finding a
solution.

Can you view the images in your My Pictures
folder in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer?

What happens when you try to choose your
My Pictures folder as a screen saver? Can
you see the images in the Preview?

Hi,
Thanks for your interest in my problem.
Yes I can view the pics in My Pictures in the Windows Picture and Fax
viewer. When I choose the My Pictures folder as the source for My Pictures
Slideshow Screen saver, the message is shown ''there were no pictures found
in C:\Documents and Settings\User\(me)\My Documents\My Pictures''
When I select Preview this message is shown on a black screen, changing
position as a screensaver does.

Me too, sort of. I'm assuming were talking about the "My Pictures
Slideshow".

I'm XP Home SP2 but the problem first arose maybe three years ago.

When the slideshow kicks in I sometimes get one, two, maybe three
"there were no pictures found in ..." messages. Then the pictures
start to show. Other times they show immediately. Bizarre!
