My Pictures Problems

Had this problem with a Gateway with windows XP, followed other
guidance with no luck and ultimately ended up buying a new cmptr.
After just a few days, I"ve encountered the same problem again. Her
goes: In My Pictures (also the same for My Docs and My Music files
each time I highlight a file to move it or copy it, as soon as i hi
either move or copy, the hour glass comes up and then nothing happen
until I get a msg saying that "My Pictures" is not responding, then
box comes up saying "End Now" or Cancel. Normally, you would get a bo
with the destination to select to copy the file to or move it to. Thi
does not appear. I can add files to or delete them just fine, jus
not move or copy. If I drag a file from one folder to another i
seems to work ok. I'm just used to being able to use these comman
boxes on the left of the screen and while they are available they don'
work now. On the old cmptr I tried several system restores with n
luck. What can I do to fix this
