My No.1 annoyance with Vista: Slow recognition of other PC's on LAN

Microsoft should be ashamed. Are there any tweaks to speed up the process ?

Once they lock on to each other, everything works fine, but the wait is
unbelievable.
 
Sorry, getting stupid messages about Windows live sign in not available and
