my new monitor

will it hurt my computer if I uninstall or don't uninstall or take up
unnecessary space if I uninstall my present monitor to install my new one.
I"ve been told just to hook up the new monitor and shove in the cd that came
with it but I want to do it right and if right is uninstalling my present
monitor that's what I'd like to do. thks
