We have 4 sites all on the same domain : domain.net. I just went into my
network places --> entire network --> microsoft windows network. In there I
have a lot of other networks showing up (biology, brus, columbia, stooge
etc...). They don't belong to us. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly
appreciated.

Also have a process called rpcserv.exe that I have never heard of.

You sure they are domains?? They are probably just broadcasted workgroup
names from misc computers on your network, these same computers may even
have registered them with WINS.

1. What's your network setup? Sharing the same network with anyone else?
2. Are you sure these are domains, and not just ghost workgroups showing up
because someone plugged a non-domain computer into the network?
3. Got any wireless networking?
4. Got security? <g>

1. single domain with only one workgroup and not sharing.
2.They are probably workgroups
3 No wireless
4. Not a lot of lockdown.

The rogue machine must have unplugged itself because none of the workgoups
are showing up now. Why does that happen?

Because the name isn't being broadcast by that machine anymore.
