my mouse is possessed

If there is a better place to post this, please tell me and I'll go there.

Two days ago my mouse began doing strange things. I can be reading
something, with the arrow just sitting there mid-screen, and all of a sudden
the arrow will slide to the right of the screen, all by itself. Once in a
while it goes left, but usually right. This morning it moved to the top of
the screen.

Any ideas?

Mouse sensitivity set too high.
Start/Control Panel/Mouse/Pointer Options
Move the slider one click to the left under Motion. While there, make
sure "Snap to" is not checked. If problem still persists
move it one more click to the left, try different settings. If none solve
the problem, you may need to reinstall the drivers.

This will sometimes happen when using an optical mouse on a textured
reflective surface like 3M's Precise Mousing Surface mouse pad.

Thank you, but it's just a plain old roller ball mouse on a plain old Office
Depot mousepad.
