My monitor suddenly shuts down

My monitor suddenly shuts down while I'm doing something like in Techno Ejay
4 and Ares. Does anyone know why? It started doing that about 2 weeks ago. I
didn't change any of my monitor settings.

Andrew E. is a troll and an idiot. It is unlikely that Event Viewer will
show anything for this hardware failure, but to see it do:

Start>Run>eventvwr.msc [enter]

I don't know what "Techno Ejay 4 and Ares" are, but it sounds like your
video card is failing/overheating. Here are basic hardware
troubleshooting steps:

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts
with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).

Well, now you know that a fan broke and so did your video card and
possibly other components. Probably you should take it to a
professional for diagnosis, repair, replacement. I'm not saying that to
hurt your feelings; just being practical.

it's not a fan that was making those noise buddy.

it's my speakers.

Yeah, it was your speakers that made your "monitor" shut down. Yeah. You
just keep thinking that, buddy.

Good luck with that now. *plonk*

Malke....it is probably best if you stop posting to this thread now. You are
not being contructive.

Dominique, I might have missed out on some of your posting, but have you
ruled out your sound card or any other card you might have plugged in some
slot inside the computer? Have you fiddled with the ram recently?

What hardware have you added recently? Have you installed any new drivers
for any hardware recently? What do you have plugged into the back of the
sound card, if anything, like a webcam, microphone, headphones, etc.

Try booting up and running in safe mode. The games should still play in
safe mode too--although probably not very well--so try them in that mode to
see if you can repeat the problem in safe mode. If you cannot, then it can
very well be a driver conflict somewhere.

I think you mentioned games. What games have you installed recently and
please list your computer specifications such as cpu, ram, video card, type
of sound card.

One more thing you might wan to try in case you have installed something or
something installed automatically with you unawares is System Restore. If
the problem is unbearable and unfixable, you might as well go back as far as
possible in System Restore to put the computer back the way it was before
the problem started. You can always undo this restoration, so give it a try
if you don't get better help here.

And it is a good idea to check the event viewer to see what is going on.
That is how I found out my logitec mouse was causing problems. The cursor
kept locking up so I thought it had been a new video card I installed. But
the only errors in the event viewer were from the logitec mouse, so once I
installed the new driver for it, my problem went away. Had I not checked the
event viewer, I would have taken my new video card out and sent it back.

Good luck.
