Push the "Power" button on the monitor. Unless the monitor is in a
switched outlet on the back of your computer (which extremely few are)
it won't shut down when your computer turns off.
Ann, I am not sure what you should do, but my monitor is plugged into the
power strip, and it is obviously being powered off by the data cable between
the computer box and the monitor. This is not an unusual arrangement; I have
viewed it as the norm for lo these many years. If you do not have this on a
newer system, you should contact either the monitor maker or the computer
maker, not sure which.
Is your monitor pluged into the computer? Nope, probably a surge
protector or (heaven forbid) the wall socket. Did you notice that
the lights in your house don't turn off when you turn off the
computer? Same principle. Each has it's own power supply.
