My Mic won't work!!!!!!!!!!!

My mic is connected in the right slot........everything
is connected in the right slot...............it just
gives out static noise.........PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Try this:

double click on your volume control in the tray.
look and see if microphone is one of the headings there.
If it is, check and make sure it isnt muted or turned off.
If it isnt listed there, click on options, then
properties. at the bottom, scroll down until you see
microphone. make sure that box is checked.
