my macros do not run in the same font as my document

I work as a translator, and have always (for years) recorded the major accent
marks I use in French into macros that I assign to the "F" keys, so that I
can easily touch-type in French. I just purchased a new Dell, with Windows
Vista, and now in both Word 2003 and Word 2007, the macros I recorded remain
in Times New Roman, instead of automatically changing to the font being used
in my current Word document.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks

Is there a reason not to do it with Keyboard Shortcuts? (If you don't
like the ones built into Word, reassign them on the Insert Symbol
panel, being sure that Add to Template is activated.)

Or, if typing a lot of French, switch to an international keyboard layout.
