my letters are locked and I can't write word 2007

I open my office word 2007 and all of my options are grayed out and I can't
type anything on the page. Can you help?
 
Did you activate your copy of Word/Office? Are you sure you are not using an
expired trial version (in which case you will have to buy a full version)?
 
Trial version that has expired? Retail version that you purchased that
hasn't been activated?
