The squeaky wheel theory.

Kurt, you're ignoring the basic nature of the average consumer.
Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a "squeaky sheep theory." The
average consumer blindly follows the dictates of whichever Madison
Avenue firm had the catchiest advertisement this week.

The sheeple are slow to wake up, but they are starting to rub the sleep
out of their eyes. The WGA notification wake up call is working.

Carey,

My guess is that you have gotten all of your software directly from
Microsoft as the MVP rules state! But for a simple man like myself who
works hard for his money and then decides to go out and PURCHASE all that he
has it would truly pee me off!!! If you were me and some simple peace of
software that was shoved up your arse told you differently wouldn't that pee
you off? Be honest now!!!!!

It isn't like we are only talking about $20.00 or something, no we are
talkign about a $200.00 peace of software here that my lifeblood depends
upon....not counting the $2000.00 PC that it sits on and would be useless
without that so-called good software that it uses to run on. You and Bill
Gates both need to pull your head out of your arses so you can see the
truth.

I am glad I got a heads up and didn't install it on my machines. Oh, BTW,
we are talking about WGA here :)

"it's just plain user ignorance" and because of that people are paying for

I "buy" all the software for my company and many of our clients, I'm not
offended, bothered, feel I was duped, etc.. for MS implementing WGA, in
fact, it's not caused ANY issues on any of our machines or on any
machines that I believe are actually legit installations of XP. I've
only seen problems on compromised or pirated machines to date.

Well, your guess is incorrect. I still use the original
Microsoft software I purchased long before my MVP
award, and its all "genuine" legal software.

If you are eXPeriencing a problem with WGA,
it can be resolved easily:

Please follow this WGA troubleshooting procedure:

1. Download and install the WGA Diagnostic Tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click
on "Copy to Clipboard".

3. Visit the following website and create a post in the
"WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the
results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in your post.
http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25

4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and
recommend an appropriate solution.

But then again, you say you saw WMDs leaving Iraq in 2003, when all the
experts there were no massive stockpiles of WMDs in Iraq in 2003, so who
is gonna believe anything you say? Carey? Karl Rove?

Screw that! It is much easier and more reliable to just get rid of the
WGA malware.

What rules would those be?

http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/mvpfaqs

Q6: Do Microsoft MVPs receive any payment from Microsoft?
A6: No. The Microsoft MVP Program does provide a small award of software
and other benefits in its core program offering, but MVPs do not receive
any monetary payment from the Microsoft MVP Program.

In reality, when answering the question of "Do Microsoft MVPs receive
*ANY* *PAYMENT* from Microsoft," the answer should really read:

*Yes*. "The Microsoft MVP Program does provide a small award of
software and other benefits in its core program offering, but MVPs do
not receive any monetary payment from the Microsoft MVP Program.

This answer is closer to the truth of the question of "*ANY* *PAYMENT*."

Not to say that you and *MOST* of the other MVP don't deserve what
little you get from MS and more, though there are definitely a few of
your number that don't deserve anything more than ridicule that they
get.

kurtrail,

Thank you for answering these questions as I have had better things to do
for the past week or so...

And guys, what kurttrail said :p........... and BTW WGA has not broken my
machine because I refuse to let it....it just saddens me that the
unsuspecting peoples that do get it as is evidence on this newsgroup here.

You know the reality of all of this is nothign new as Microsoft has kept
computer techs in work for a long time now by fixing their stinking mistakes
and yes this is a bad one. I do like how no one has answered my question of
how they would react if this happened to them!!! I would be willing to bet
they wouldn't go out and buy another $200.00 peace of......
