Ring Microsoft in your area and have your purchase
receipt etc. ready.

It certainly is.

| Carey is that an official Microsoft forum? I ask because it doesn't look

kurttrail,

Did you look at this site man? There are MANY people who are being ripped
off because of this, WOW! I am glad that I got a heads up as I would have
to beat soemone up who told me my copy of XP wasn't legit as I purchased my
machines from Circuit City. Listen to this little snip from that site on
one of the individuals who thinks his software isn't legit:

"It's mildly irritating to have to get that message every time I turn the
computer on but I'll live with it. It's put me right of buying a new
computer though. Next time I'll be going to ebay!"

If that isn't mind boggling then I don't know what is. Some people just
don't get it!

No one who has a valid, genuine Windows XP license is getting "ripped off".
Many users have had an illegal, non-genuine version of Windows
XP installed by someone, be it an unscrupulous repair shop, a "friend",
or the user themselves. There is a specific Microsoft web site that
deals with resolving these issues. It many cases, it's just plain user ignorance
that led to the problem in the first place.

Yes been there - read it.
I feel sorry for the stooge offered up to use the msnewspeak replies, or as
one mentioned to 'stick his head up and take incoming'
So what about the millions who have validated/authenticated/had certified
their Win XP etc. like me.
Why cant we rid ourselves of this imposing MS Tool.
What else is it doing stuck in my computer when I do not want it anymore.
Surely I have the sole choice as to what I keep and what I delete, but not
with this 'bar-steward' so called security/critical update.
I am afraid that MS did con us less aware computer users and I do not like
feeling I have been had.

Obviously the tool this thread is about. Can't you keep up with a

I have read all those - God knows how many times you keep posting them in
links.
I know I need to educate myself with the workings of a computer. That is
why I read these groups. But quite honestly I think you are the last
person to tell me TO GET EDUCATED.
The below has nothing to do with getting educated. I can read and write and
have been doing so for far longer than you, and probably better than you.
Senility has yet to catch up with me - but sometimes I wonder if it might
not have started to effect yourself in some respects.
Now for your education;
Impose- enforce compliance with, take advantage of -
OR in three simple letters W.G.A.
Lessons are now over - you may go and play in another group.
Oh and please done bother to insult me again.
I only ever reply once to rudeness.

P.S.
Even Kurt understood - and some misguided people think he is a bit sort of
you know what, until he has a pint :) :)

Then diss MS products and use Linux products. No need to complain as you
have most excellent options.

And one of the options is to complain about MS's anti-consumer
technologies. MS is more likely to change when its customers complain
in large numbers, and loudly, than if they move to another OS.

The squeaky wheel theory.

Of course true. eg basic business theory, ie listen to your customers.

Hello Plato
Why should I change to Linux/open office and the like.
I want what I have to be made better and improved.
I came into computer very late in life and started with MS.
I have tried alternatives and just could not get on with them - I would have
liked to though.
It is far too late to learn a whole new 'ball game'.
As a purchaser of goods then I have a right to complain about those goods
when they are not of usable quality etc.
And I do complain where and whenever I can. Not just to MS, but any
retailer or manufacturer.
I have complained about WGA with feedback to MS as many others have.
I have nothing against WGA and its purpose - just the method used to shove
it down my throat and leave it stuck there.
Now if you are the sort that is happy to accept how this WGA was delivered,
that's OK by me.
