my exploerer will not open at all, the moment I open it
it says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" this
is what it says the problem is - -
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2600.0 ModName:
winshow.dll ModVer: 1.0.0.8 Offset: 000096fece."

I don't know what that means. how can I get it to work?
I hate AOL.

PS. IT does work on the other accounts on my comp.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions."

That should allow IE to work. Then Run CWShredder from
http://www.net-integration.net/tools/hijackthis.html It will remove this
coolwebsearch variant. CWShredder is only about 125 KB so it could be
downloaded from another machine onto a floppy disk if necessary.

You might also be able to browse and download programs from the address bar
of windows explorer.

Search for and remove other malware and note the security tips at:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

.
It sound like the version of the dll that has access to is
not the version the O/S is expecting. In other words AOL
has placed add a file on your machine that the base system
does not support the file you might try un/registring this
file winshow.dll this might get you past your problem.

Thanks for your help. I took your advice and it worked. I have tried for five hours to find out what the problem was.
