My IE6 browser does not display PNG images

My IE6 (SP2) browser does not display PNG images. I came to the
conclusion that the problem has to do with my settings for two reasons:

1. There are large sites which have PNG images, and I can't imagine
that *all* IE6 browsers are unable to view such sites.

2. My Opera browser does display PNG's correctly.

I think that the problem has to do with QuickTime because when I am in
Windows Explorer and right-click on a PNG file to open with IE, I can
see the QuickTime logo for a fraction of a second before the image is
correctly displayed.

Can someone please advise where I should look to correct the problem?

thanks

I found the solution in this forum thanks to another user:

I hate QuickTime but I have to use it to play the movies created by my
digital camera. God knows which other settings QuickTime has messed up.
