My IE treats animedb.pl as a file to download.

A few days ago my IE stopped viewing http://anidb.ath.cx/perl-
bin/animedb.pl as a web page. Instead it asks me if I want to open, save
or cancel downloading a file named animedb.pl from anidb.ath.cx. I can
view http://anidb.ath.cx/perl-bin/animedb.pl just fine with Netscape on the
same machine, so I'm pretty sure the problem is with IE. Any help would be
appreciated.

Apparently the problem is because anidb.ath.cx is now using gzip
compression for all its html pages and because my browser can't decode it
in real-time it asks me if I want to save the outputted data as it thinks
it's downloading a binary data stream. MSIE 6.x is not supposed to have a
problem with gzip. So while I now have a greater understanding of the
problem I still can't fix it.

Hi,
I would be very interested in knowing how you resolved
your problem. I can't seem to get IE6 to work with gzip
on our site. According to the HTTP header, it doesn't
support it, yet I know this used to work.

When I enabling both "Use HTTP 1.1" and "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy
connections" in Internet Options (Advanced Tab) it fixed any problem I had
using IE with gzip encoded websites. Hope that helps.
