and now it only displays the default internet explorer
icon. The links such as CNN or MSNBC website, when I
added them to links toolbar, it displayed the respective
icons and now they are gone and showing only the default
icon.

Do you know what made the icons change?

Thanks in advance,
mak

Mak,
I assume you are talking about the icons in your Favorites. The icons
are stored in the temporary internet files folder. If it gets emptied or if
the icons get deleted, then you lose the icons.

Next time, when you have an icon that you want to keep, put the icon in
another folder (I put mine in C:\Windows\Web), then go to the properties of
the link to point the new location of the icon.

Actually I am talking about the icons that CNN or MSNBC
websites provide when you add their webpage in your
links/favorites.

Could you tell me where do they store their icons? They
are not in the Temporary Internet Files folder.
