My file types keep changing on me!

This is very weird. I got a new computer about 2 months ago...my old
one had XP and so does this new one with the only difference being that
this new one is the "media" edition. It is updated and all that.

The problem is this: All my files and folders were successfully -- or
so I thought -- transferred from the old computer to the new one. 99%
of them are fine...BUT I've had a few MP3 files and ALL my MS Front
Page files converted somehow to shortcuts to internet sites (which,
when I clink on to them go to blank internet pages.

I haven't lost the files...it took some experimenting but I was somehow
able to convert the files into the right type and get them to
work...but it took me awhile.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem and, if so, can you tell me why
it happened and what I can do to see that it doesn't happen anymore?

The issue might be due to file association. Changing the file association
will resolve your problem. Check the following web site to change the same:
