My email text deletes itself when I make a mistake. What's wrong

A setting some how was changed in my Outlook. When I'm typing text, and need
to backspace and change it, the text disappears and text is lost--it just
eats word and letters. How do I undo the setting that is causing this?

Toggle the Insert key to switch back and forth from Insert to Replace. See if
that helps.
