Need + discs. And, if it's Memorex media, some of them are 4x ONLY and
require a firmware update on your drive (if avail.) to burn at 4x -
specs you showed were 2.4x.

The difference is you CAN NOT use the DVD-R disks in your drive. Buy
and use DVD+R or DVD+RW as you've been advised. The formats are
different. Some drives can accept all formats, yours can't.

If your drive specs are: DVD+R 2.4x - you need DVD+R media that must be
2.4x compatible ("up to" a higher number is fine, *just* a higher
number - read the box).

There are 5 types of burnable discs:

+R & -R - both write once.
+RW & -RW - both re-writable
-RAM - re-writable, more expensive, but can be used like a small hard
drive in your system.

If your drive specifies + or -, you can use only that one. If it says
"multi-format", "super drive" or +-RW, you can use either.

There are two non-compatible systems at the basic level for DVD:
DVD-R(W) and DVD+R(W). You have a DVD+RW drive and must buy DVD+R or
DVD+RW disks: you bought a - type
