My new DVD-RW drive won't work in UDMA, only PIO. I have tried many fixes to no avail (registry editing, reinstall controller). This problem was also plagueing a CD-RW drive I had on the same controller (Secondary Slave) earlier. I would like to try the fix in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 817472, but don't know how to obtain the new Atapi.sys file. Can't I just download it? Also, any other ideas about fixing this problem would be appreciated

Thanks!

Did you try the workaround listed on the page?

Otherwise, instructions on how to get the fix are listed on the page
You'll need to call PSS to get the file. They won't charge you as long as
you ask for the file specificly (make sure you mention the kb article
number)
