CD-RW and DVD Drives listed as PIO mode in Safe Mode

I booted into safe mode to check some things out and noticed that my CD RW
drive and DVD drive are both showing up in safe mode as PIO only. In
Windows XP Home, they both show up in device manager as using DMA if
available. Is this normal, or do I have a problem? My IDE hard drive is
setup as Primary Master, with my CD RW as Primary Slave. The DVD drive is
on Secondary controller as Master.

Any info would be appreciated!

The thing that seems strange is that when I reboot normally into Windows XP,
the device manager shows that the CD and DVD drives are using DMA? It only
shows PIO in Safe Mode. That is why I am wondering if I have a problem
somewhere? And if I do, how do I go about correcting it?

Safe Mode is just that: a mode which a standard set of Windows drivers load
so that a stable session of Windows can occur. DMA drivers are enhanced
drivers that can cause an unstable session and are only loaded during Normal
mode start-up.

BTW: Safe mode is only really used to diagnose, test and debug Windows
problems (hardware / software).

Thanks so much for the info. I certainly do not want to look for problems
where there are none!
