My Documents

We are running Win2k AD with roaming profiles. We have alot of users where
the My Documents are a part of their roaming profiles which increases their
logon times. Is there a way (Group Policy) to change the target location of
their My Documents to their home directories? If not, what is the best way
that I can remove the My Documents from their profile, but still give them
access to it?

Thanks in advance.

No I have not, but let me ask this question......will folder redirection
enable me to redirect the My Documents to each individuals home directory
folder?

If I am understanding you correctly, you want certain users to be able to
have access to their set of files. In this case it would be best to have a
shared folder setup on the server that has all the files that you want.
Folder redirection is faster than roaming profiles. When you set up your
path for redirected folders use the path of
\\servername\sharename\%username%. Just change the servername to your
server and the sharename to the share you have setup. But leave the
%username% as is. That way it will store the documents in the share under
whatever username has logged in.

Here is our situation. The users have their home directories. The My
Documents folders gets saved to their profiles. I want a way to keep the My
Documents folder from being saved to their profile. I would preferably like
to have the My Documents folder redirected to their existing home directory
folder. I was wondering if there was a way thru group policy to get this
done?

I'm still caught up on the issue of where is the Home Directories. Is it a
place on the server or are you talking about on their personal computer?

In Active Directory it is called a home folder. If you double click on a
user account and click on the profile tab, you will see where it says, "home
folder". This is a folder where each user keeps data specific to them not
used by other departments.
