I have a laptop user who syncronizes correctly to the redirected My documents
on the Server. I have offline files turned on, and he syncs successfully;
however, the files are not available when he is away from the office. He
cannot save, he gets a file save error: "Cannot save file to
G:\users\plong\My Documents\filename.xxx, File is unavailable or corrupt.

Other laptop users do not have this problem. I have deleted the offline
folders and then resynced them.

How can I repair this problem

I am experiencing a similar problem except that it only occurs randomly. Did
you have any luck resolving your issue? Anyone with any ideas? In my case,
I have Win XP Pro on laptop, Windows 2003 Server. Users my documents
redirected to network folder.

Sometimes the items he was working on during the day are unavailable offline
in the evening when he is out of office. Typically they are.

Brian,

This one was a mystery, but apparently My Documents for this user got very
large and this seems to be the problem.

We had him delete some pictures and other files, then we did the following
process:

1. Be logged in as to the users account and close all open sessions.
2. Open up a Windows Explorer session (cursor over start, right-click,
select Explore)
3. Click on Tools, Synchronize, and force a full synchronization. Let
finish even with errors.
4. Click on Tools, Folder Options, and select the Offline Folders Tab.
5. Click the delete files button. Click the radio button for "Delete
only the temporary offline versions"
6. Follow all the prompts.
7. You will probably be forced into PC restart which will launch another
synchronization. Let this synchronization finish. If no synchronization
starts automatically then do a manual one like you did in #3 above.
8. Test the offline files cache again by unplugging the network cable,
opening a file, and saving a file.

Also check this: (#4 below should be unchecked)

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. In Category view, click User Accounts.
3. Click Change the way users log on or off.
4. Clear the Use Fast User Switching check box, and then click Apply
Options.
5. Quit User Accounts, and then quit Control Panel.

I got this process from a knowledge base article I believe.

Try it!!
