My Documents folders

Is there any way to restrict access to a users "My Documents" folder so
only the user has access in XP Pro? I want to restrict Administrator access
to sensitive files.

Thanks.

If every one is an Administrator, then either EFS or some third party
encryption software will have to be used.

You are wasting your time. A members of the administrators group can do
whatever they want whenever they want. You could set permissions to
restrict access, but all that will do is annoy them.

Not possible. And you should never run as Administrator unless you
absolutely need Administrator: Running programs like mail clients, web
browsers, etc. as Administrator makes a nice, easy virus/trojan horse/user
error entry vector and makes it exponentially easier to hose your system.
Never run as Administrator unless you need Administrator privs, and even
then, use Run As User... instead.

It would appear that I have stumbled onto WWII's solution, because my
computer has two accounts, both set to Administrator. My account was the
original Admin account and I do have access to everything. However, when I
logon to my wife's account, she does not have access to any files in TerryD's
Documents, even if trying to navigate to them the long way (i.e. from C:
drive. C:\Documents and Settings\TerryD)

I went back to my account and examined the properties of my folder. Under
the Shared tab there's an option to make the folder private. When I
unclicked that option my wife regained full access.

Jim, is this what you meant by restricting access? Yes it is very
annoying, but also very effective.
