My Documents folder view....

When I open the My Documents folder it appears as a music album. I can only
sort by name, size, title, artist, album, year, etc. How do I reset this to
make it a normal folder? I tried using "Reset All Folders" under the Folder
Options, but even that didn't work. I prefer to sort this folder generally by
'date modified' and would like to see useful information until the "details"
view rather than just stuff for music albums. I don't know how this came
about, it just started to look like this a few days ago and for the life of
me I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated, and if you need more
info just holler. Thanks again.

The folder type setting is stored in the registry, sometimes it becomes
mismatched. Open a folder. Click Tools, Folder Options, View, Reset All
Folders. Note that this also resets the customizations for all the
folders. If you want to do it only for the My Pictures folder, you may
need to use Process Explorer or Regmon.

Using Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com

1. Open My Pictures folder
2. Start P'Explorer
3. Switch the lower pane view to Handles, in order to find the 'Bag
Number'. Once you locate the Bag #, go to that key and change the
FolderType to "MyPictures".

Using Regmon:

To re-initialize My Documents, type:
Click Start/Run and type: rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit

All the Best, and keep us posted, in either case. :)

Thank you, I will try that. Consider the problem solved as long as I don't
respond.
